EVERYBODY LOVES ICE CREAM!

Do you have an ice cream churn?  The Center is planning to supply 300 servings of homemade ice cream, at the Grills Gone Wild event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Panama City Beach.  The date is November 19  from 3-6pm at St. Andrews.  If you can help with the ice cream or just come man the booth for a little while, please call the office.

Our tent will have information about the Center, videos and slide shows and of course the ice cream with pink and blue sprinkles.  There will be a people choice jar at each charity’s tent and all the money left in the jars will be given to the charity, plus a portion of the nights proceeds.  Come out and support the Center at this event.  A lot of good food will be available from bar-b-que contestants and other charities.

Over the past few weeks our moms have been studying “A Woman Who Doesn’t Quit” from the book of Ruth.  Nicki Koziarz gives us five habits to form in order to not be a quitter.  I think it wise to consider these habits and see if we have formed them or abandoned them as ministers in this fight for life.

Habit one:  We must accept the assignment of refinement, even if it is painful

Habit two:  We must follow through with promises, commitments, and projects no matter how we feel.

Habit three:  We must keep our hearts pure so we can see God move.

Habit four: We must be generous with our time, talents, money, emotions and especially love.

Habit five: Keep moving forward by walking in faith!

Something to think about:  (reprint from two years ago)
In 1923, Babe Ruth broke the record for most home runs in a season. That same year, he also broke the record for highest batting average.
There is a third record he broke that year that most people don't know about. In 1923, Babe Ruth struck out more times than any other player in Major League Baseball.
He was the first player to hit 60 home runs in one season, a record he held for 34 years until Roger Maris hit 61 in 1961.  He also held the lifetime total home run record of 714 for 39 years until Hank Aaron broke it in 1974.
He held other records too. He had 1,330 career strike outs - a record he held for 29 years until it was broken by none other than the great Mickey Mantle.

With many swings at saving babies and reaching the lost we will also have many strike outs.  But we cannot quit.  We must be willing to strike out in order to see new life come across that home plate.
