BE PREPARED

Hello all,

It has been pretty slow this summer.  Our appointments have been few and our EWYL classes have also been down a bit.  I suppose it is often referred to as the “Summer Slump” or “Summer Slow Down.”  I prefer to call it the “Summer Regroup.”  Because, you see we can use this time to prepare for the times when our appointment books are filled with new and return clients who need our services.  God knows how to assist this ministry when we need assisting, because so many of our volunteers are out on vacation or other life issues that have drawn them away for a while.

So during this time we will take the opportunity to learn, grow and prepare.  One way to do this is by watching the many videos we have available here at the Center.  These videos will encourage and inspire us to continue working diligently at stopping abortion and helping mothers in need of spiritual and material needs.

Another way we can prepare is by completing the Evangelism Training available through Mission Preborn and Carenet.  The instructions on these evangelism trainings are available in print here at the Center or I will gladly email them to you so you can take the training in the convenience of your own home.

Preparation number 3 is new.  The clients we see at the Center come from all walks of life and from many different beliefs and faiths.  Just this past week a Muslim woman came to the Center.  We need to be ready to share the Gospel with anyone who is of a different belief.  Our church has been studying “Dare2Share” on Wednesday nights.  This information will be printed and available to read while at the Center.  Or you can go to the website at www.dare2share.org/products-resources/worldviews.  “When you’re sharing your faith with someone who believes differently than you about Jesus, be sure to “ask, admire and admit.” https://youtu.be/E7RkC9C3H7U

Volunteer training next Saturday, June 18, 8:30 -12N.  We have several signed up to attend this training.  Please call the office to add your name.  We will be covering the position of Client Assistant (counselor).  This volunteer position is not difficult and does not require a degree in counseling.  Basically it is listening and showing Christian love, however, there are procedures and guidelines we must follow.  So please, if interested please attend this important training session.  Hope to see YOU there. Beach satellite news:  Last week we have one client to attend the EWYL class on Monday evening at the Beach location.  A dear volunteer has offered to put out flyers about the new location and we now have signs to place in front of the new facility on the days we are there.  We expect God to do a mighty work at this location, just as He has and is presently doing at the Main Center location.  We have a nurse and receptionist ready to start taking clients on Wednesday mornings;  however we are still in needs of a Client Assistant for that time.  If interested, please pray about it.  Then if God is leading you to help these girls, please call and let us know. Projects for the coming weeks include:  Student Outreach (calling and scheduling visits to the schools to share our information with counselors and nurses), Church Outreach (calling and scheduling visits to churches in our area and asking for speaking opportunities. Volunteer Needs: Receptionists:  Monday (5-7), and Tuesday (10-1) Client Assistants:  Monday (5-7), Tuesday 10-1 and 1-4), Thursday 10-2 and 1-4 and Wednesday (10-1 at the Beach) Nurses:  Monday (5-7) and Thursday (10-4). PRC VOLUNTEERS ARE THE GREATEST!

 

If you didn’t make it to our Volunteer Appreciation cookout last Saturday, you missed a blessing.  Sonja and   home.  About twenty volunteers were there.  The food was delicious, and after dinner we sat and introduced ourselves to one another and went over some memories of the past few years.  Then we played a game that brought lots of laughter.

Each volunteer is precious to this ministry and if you did or did not make it to the cookout we just want you to know you are loved and appreciated.  Please remember to pick up your appreciation gift the next time you come to serve.

Summer is starting and school is about to be out.  A lot of exciting things happen this time of year.  As many of our volunteers plan vacations we are reminded that there are many hours where we will be short handed.  If you would like to fill one of these slots, please call the office, we will let you know the times where your help is needed.

We are praising God for two who prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their savior just yesterday.  Each one was so special.  Connie said, “The hairs on my arm was standing on end, I felt God was using me to speak to this girl.”

She picked out a church on our church list and stated she would start attending.  Her name was written on our Wall of Life and Connie filled out a Church Referral form.  Her name and information was then sent to the church of her choice for contact.

Later in the afternoon, another name went up on the Wall of Life.   Kathy brought a beautiful woman to my door and asked her to tell me what had just happened to her.  With a big smile on her face she stated that she had prayed to receive Christ.  I asked her if that meant she had accepted Him into her life and that she would be following Him.  She assured me that was what it meant.  She also stated she would be attending a small group at church.

Does this not make you glad to be a part of a ministry where the Kingdom of God is growing?  It sure does me.  Sharing Jesus, stopping abortion, and helping pregnant women is our mission and we get to see that mission met often around here.

Wednesday evening was Mission Emphasis at Hiland Park Baptist Church.  Becky and Beverly set up a table and many stopped by and received information.  They also purchased the precious feet pens and Crossroads of the Heart video.  If you would like some of these to offer to your group, just stop by the Center.  Baby Bottles are also available.

Coming up:

Pregnancy Resource Center at the Beach will begin classes on June 6.  We have several signed up and teachers ready to go.  We will be meeting at the new center on Wednesday, June 1 to organize files, baby items, and get ready for the following Monday evening.  We have some book cases and a clothes rack that needs assembly, so if you can help, just call for directions and time.

Client Assistant training is set for Saturday, June 18.  Even some of our receptionists and teachers are planning to attend to learn more about counseling women in crisis.  A signup sheet is in the office.  Call if you want your name added to the list.  Breakfast will be at 8:30AM and we will be concluded by noon.  Hope to see many new faces.

The biggest thing this ministry needs, and it is always true, is prayer.  The areas we would ask you to pray 

about are:

For our staff and volunteers to be kept safe from the evil one

For abortion minded callers to be compelled to come to the Center

For abortion minded women to change their mind upon counseling or seeing the ultrasound or their baby

For a God to increase the size of our tent – reach more and more who need our help

The enemy does not want this ministry to flourish.  He is working all the time to hurt it, but guess what – greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.

Pulling out the red white and blue for Memorial Day I am reminded from Memorial Day to Labor Day it seems to center around patriotism.   Truly no greater need for prayer is needed than for our country.

Memorial Day weekend is already behind us.  I hope each of you had a wonderful relaxing and worshipful long weekend.

DOUBLE BLESSING

It is always exciting when we have a client expecting twins, but this past week God gave a special gift regarding a dear mother and her preborn twins.  She called early in the morning inquiring about an ultrasound, because she had been to an abortion clinic where they had given her the abortion pill.  After taking the initial dose of the pill she changed her mind and did not want an abortion.  She called her doctor and was advised to seek an ultrasound to see if the baby was still viable.

The client came for an ultrasound and it revealed two tiny heartbeats.  The client proceeded to take the anti-abortion hormone prescribed by her doctor.  In the counseling session this mother signed up for our EWYL classes and although it is about an hour’s drive, stated she would be returning for classes.

We have known for some time about the abortion reversal process, but this is the first time we have witnessed it and then to learn she was having twins was an added blessing.  Many smiling faces and whispers of “Thank you God” were heard around here yesterday.

Monday was our first meeting at the new satellite center.  The actual address of the satellite center is 10620 Hutchison Blvd, Panama City Beach.  We will have signs out around the property pointing to the little building next door to Gulf Beach Baptist Church.  These signs will say “FREE pregnancy testing.”  Yes we plan to do pregnancy testing on Wednesdays.  A nurse has graciously volunteered to do the testing and although space is very limited, we have a plan that will make it work.  If you are interested, please contact the office.  Our next meeting will be Monday evening at 5:30 at the facility.  We will be working on the store, going over needed forms and supplies etc.

Needs:

A new switching box. Looks like our internet switching box is about to bite the dust.  Our internet connection 

keeps coming and going.

For sale -  several  old computers.  They have been wiped clean and have no PRC information or operating system.  Anyone interested in them can contact the office.

Carpet cleaning – our front waiting room doubles and even quadruples for services and the carpets get soiled very quickly. 

Donations to help purchase Bible Studies for our clients. We would like each client to have their own workbook of Bible studies that we order on a frequent basis.  The cost of these work books were not included in our regular budget.  Help with them would be greatly appreciated.

GREAT NEWS!

Hello everyone,

Great news!  We have been given the go ahead to begin our satellite center on the beach.  We will be called PRC At The Beach and will begin classes in approximately two to three weeks.  This coming Monday evening the volunteers who will be helping at the beach location are asked to meet at the new location for a time of store stocking, organizing and planning.  If interested in working at the beach location, and if you have not already let us know, please call the office for time and place

It was a good day at the Community Services Bazaar on Friday of last week where many other service organizations were on display.  We swapped information and many expressed interest in referring clients our way or volunteering.  Looking forward to hearing back from them.

Don't forget about the CA training scheduled for June 18.  This will be for Client Assistants (counselors).  If you are a CA, or if you have ever considered being a counselor to the young women and girls who come to the Center, please do not miss this training.  On the job training is wonderful, but nothing replaces the concentrated training received in these sessions. This is also an opportunity to ask questions and get ideas from our more experienced CAs (counselors).  Sign-up sheet will be on the counter between kitchen and dining area.

Spring/Summer newsletter should be in homes by now.  Please let us know if you do not get one so we can make sure you are on the mailing list.

Many of our volunteers are currently under attack from the evil one.  They are experiencing grave family circumstances that are designed to discourage or dissuade them from serving God in this ministry.   I believe we are on the verge of great things here at PRC and our enemy is working overtime to prevent life from being affirmed.   Please pray with me that Satan will not win and that God will take these circumstances and work them out for the good of the dear volunteers who want to serve Him.  Also, pray for their perseverance and that Jesus Christ will be glorified through every volunteer and staff member of this ministry.

We currently have 206 people on our email list.  This is too many for most email clients to handle, so we have switched over to using Mail Chimp.  I am still in the learning process of this new way of sending emails, so please bear with me when you see typos and words that just don't seem to make sense. Seems like out of nowhere the sentences jump from one paragraph to another.   

By the way, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those who voice regularly, that they enjoy receiving these weekly updates and actually look forward to them.

CALM AFTER THE STORM

Hello everyone,

Life at PRC has been a little calmer after the storm of preparing for the banquet for so many months.  However, our appointment book is still nearly full and we are seeing new women each day that we do intake, and we are seeing lives changed through our Earn While You Learn and Bible Studies.

Praise God for a client who prayed to receive Christ on Thursday of this week.  What a joy it is to see the smiling faces of the women and girls as they share their decision to trust Jesus as their savior and to make plans to follow Him.  These women and girls are not abandoned after their decision.  They are given the opportunity to have a church visit them.  They are asked to attend our Bible Studies and Earn While You Learn Classes, where love and encouragement abound from the facilitators and the other members of the class.

Two weeks ago we had an abortion minded client.  She saw abortion to be her only option.  After coming to

us and speaking with a counselor and coming back last week for an ultrasound, she stated after leaving the ultrasound that she has definitely decided to not have an abortion.  She was worried about how her family would react, but because of the baby she saw moving around in the ultrasound she would consider placing her baby for adoption.  We are praising God for this dear mother and will continue to pray for her to make good decisions.  She signed up for the EWYL classes.

Attention all volunteers

Volunteer appreciation is set for May 21.  It will be a fun bar-b-que at the home of Sonja Seidler in Breakfast Point.  Come ready to play some games and get to know the other volunteers and staff at PRC.

The Spring Social Services Bazaar put on by the Big Bend is May 13 from 10-2.  The PRC will have a table set up there and will need help manning it.  These are great opportunities to get the word out to the community about what we do here at PRC.  Please help if you can.  If you cannot help, please remember to pray.

PRC Needs

We have several new wonderful volunteers at PRC.  However some are still training, some are still finding their place and dates that work best for them.  We are so thankful for all their help.  We do still need help on Tuesdays.  We need a receptionist and a Client Assistant.  Please pray and ask God if this ministry is where you should commit to Him some time, energy and abilities.  This is a ministry and although we call them volunteers, those who come to this place are ministers of God. 

We are always trying to find new and better ways to serve our Savior here at PRC.  We are changing a couple of directions here at PRC.  One is the way we work to reach the youth.  We want our youth groups to know about us and to come along side of us to help.  Instead of education on abstinence only, we will be requesting their help to reach their peers about abstinence, STDs, and teen pregnancy. 

Another new direction is the way we speak with the abortion minded client.  We want the scared mother to see that God loves her very much.  We have in the past tried to focus  on her and her needs, but we must try harder and one of the ways is to share the well-known pro-life verses from Psalm 139 which not only shows this mother how much God cares for her unborn, but that He cares for her and has chosen her to bring life into the world.

I challenge everyone to read Psalm 139 with the mother in mind.  I believe like the scared mother to be, we will all see things a little differently when we get a glimpse of just how much God loves each of us.

NEW MINISTERS

And hello to all you new people.  If you are reading this for the first time, it is because you either attended our Delivering Hope Banquet or signed up to attend and gave your email.  I hope you enjoy our weekly news from the PRC, but if for some reason you wish not to receive this email, or if you happen to receive duplicates, please let me know and I will remove you from the list.

During this week we had 13 clients come for pregnancy testing.  or to sign up for our Earn While You Learn classes. One precious girl signed our Wall of Life.  This of course means she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. The total Earn While You Learn attendees this week were 12.  We are constantly amazed at how God is working in the lives of our ladies who attend our classes.

Just being at this Center every day I am so blessed to witness how the clients receives care and love from our volunteers.  One of the pregnant girls who received an ultrasound during the nurses training called back last week stating she had some medical difficulties.  It was so good to see how Nurse Becky jumped right on top of the problem and worked with the client to get her to see a doctor as soon as possible.  Love truly abounds around here.

Three new volunteers who are finding their preferred area of service have come on board, and several have signed up and praying about when they can contribute.  So often we see an excited, enthusiastic woman who wants to serve God by helping to stop abortion and serve the pregnant ladies who come to the center.  Then the enemy pulls out all stops to prevent these sweet ladies from keeping their commitments to this ministry.  Please be praying for all our volunteers, because they are on the front lines in this battle where they come face to face with forces that they are not expecting.  These forces cause havoc, not only in their minds, but in their circumstances.

Upcoming:
Earn While You learn training is set for Saturday, April 30.  This will be a half day training, where those who help with our classes will come together for brain storming about ways we can better serve our clients.  We will also be going over procedures and making plans for curriculum and other items.  If you are interested in working in this area of the ministry, please call and we will get you on the list.

Volunteer Appreciation is set for Saturday, May 21.  A dear board member has offered her home for the volunteers to gather for a time of sweet fellowship.  We will be meeting at 4PM on that Saturday and enjoy a time of getting to know one another.  If you work on a specific day you will have the opportunity to meet  those who work on other days of the week.  We will have games and lots of fun planned.  More will be revealed as the weeks pass.  So be sure to get your name on the list.  We will have a sign up sheet in the office.

Attention Receptionists and Client Assistants:
Please be sure to read the procedures that can be found in the front room or at the work table.  We ask that they be read every two weeks so everyone is on the same page about certain items.  If you have any suggestions for them, they are certainly welcome. Also you can keep your enthusiasm burning by watching one of the videos we have available on abortion.  Many can also be found on You Tube by searching abortion videos.

Help needed:
A Client Assistant has moved and left a vacancy for Thursday morning.    This may be just for you.  We also need a  Receptionist and Client Assistant  for Tuesday afternoon  and Thursday afternoon.  Summer vacations will take some of our volunteers away for a few weeks, so if you can help out this summer for a day or just a few hours, please let us know.  A couple of our nurses will be away training at Emerald Coast so RNs are welcome to come do pregnancy testing until they return.

BUSY, EXCITING, AMAZING AND EDUCATIONAL

Hello everyone,
These two weeks have been busy, exciting, amazing, and educational.

Busy getting ready for the banquet.  Many hands were involved and the results were beautiful.  Nothing but positive reviews have been heard from all about this year’s banquet.  If you missed it, please know it was God honoring and life affirming with delicious food and great fellowship.



The night was exciting and the next day was also exciting and busy and two of us met to list checks and pledges from the banquet.  The total of all is currently at $46K and we are seeing additional donations come in still.  Thank God He supplies all our needs and blesses as the blessings are needed.

As I left the Center on Friday after getting  the deposit ready from the banquet I was amazed at how much still needed to be done per post banquet. But am now amazed at how quickly it has been accomplished.  Wonderful volunteers and staff pitched in and the list is almost completed.  I am amazed over and over about the many sweet people who give toward this ministry with their time, money, resources and most importantly prayer.

Educational?  How could this week be educational?  We learned many lessons from the banquet that will carry over to next year.  Every year the banquet gets better and better and we learn so much from the event, so if you have never been to one, please make it a priority to attend next year.  I promise you two will be amazed.
Another way we see education this week is with our nurses.  Two nurses are receiving ultrasound training and Nurse Becky is receiving refresher.  In a few weeks we will have three nurses who can perform ultrasounds, making it more convenient for a client to see her baby as soon as possible and therefore choose life when considering abortion.

Coming up:
Abortion Recovery classes will begin Monday evening.  We have 9 ladies set to enroll in these classes.  They will last for six weeks.  If you are interested in the next session, please call the office and we will get your name on the list.

Earn While You Learn Training is set for Saturday, April 30. This will be a time to discuss the policies and procedures for our EWYL classes and Bible Studies.  We will also be doing some brain storming on curriculum, hours and even a possible satellite center location for our EWYL classes.  If you are interested in helping with this part of the ministry please call and sign up for the training.  It will begin at 8:30 and should end at 12 Noon.

April is Volunteer Appreciation month.  Our volunteers are so precious and we want them to know how much.  Please watch for a date to be set for a Volunteer Appreciation event in the coming weeks.

Vacations are also upon us and many of our volunteers will be out.  If you can help during the summer for just a few hours a week it would be so helpful.
